Kerns Family Roots in Virginia

Kerns Family Roots in Virginia Author: Wilmer L. Kerns

This work identifies and presents information on eight different Kerns roots that were planted during the 1700s in the Great Valley of Virginia. Most of these settler families were of Germanic origin that came to Virginia via Pennsylvania. The surname was spelled in variant ways, but Kern and Kerns were predominant.

The primary focus of the book is Jacob Kerns (1738-1811) of Timber Ridge, Frederick and Hampshire Counties, Virginia. The author traced ten generations of his descendants. Of great interest was Adam Kern (1740-1799) who was the founder of Kernstown in Frederick County. Special attention was given to his descendants who remained in the Shenandoah Valley.

Information on six other Kerns roots is presented in separate sections. More than 200 pictures are included in the book. Full name index.

A $6.00 shipping/handling fee is included in the price listed for this book. Virginia residents should add $2.25 sales tax.
