Volume I is devoted exclusively to the history and the people who had a roll in the founding and development of Lehigh County, Pennsylvania. Genealogist and historians alike will find the extensive chapters on township and borough histories very informative. Included in these chapters are vignettes of early pioneers, churches, schools, societies, mills and factories, along with early tax lists from the 1700s for Allentown, and the townships of Heidelberg, Upper Milford, Salisbury, Macungie, Weisenburg, and Whitehall. Other chapters include information on various Indian massacres, the county’s newspapers, the Bench and Bar and the men who served in the Revolutionary War, War of 1812, and Civil War from Lehigh County, Pennsylvania.
