These records were comprised from the church book of congregations of both Evangelical Lutheran and Evangelical Reformed (Brothers Valley Township). They were translated from the German by E.C. Saylor in 1929. Somerset County, Pennsylvania was formed from the westernmost part of Bedford County in 1795, thus, a portion of these records cover Bedford County. These records represent one of the earliest and most complete sets of vital records of western Pennsylvania. Cover approximate time period 1788-1856. Index.
