History of Erie County, Pennsylvania from its First Settlement by Laura Sanford published in 1894, contain a wealth of information about the Erie County and her people. Included in the two histories are biographical sketches; township histories; accounts of the first settlers, including a list of the first settlers from 1795-1800; an account of Perry's victory and Erie County's involvement in the War of 1812; and much more.
Both the 1873
Erie County Gazetteer and the
1867 Erie City Directory provide extensive lists of residences and business. The
Erie County Gazetteer also provides excellent descriptions of the towns, townships and churches of the county. The
Erie City Directory also includes a list of 1867 taxpayers.
