This abstract of the Ashland County, Ohio Probate Court mariage records covers the period of from 1870 to 1886. Neither Volume 4 nor Volume 5 of the Probate Court original marriage records contained a female index and the male index was incomplete. This book abstracts the following marriage record information: page number, date of marriage, full name of male and female as written in the original record. The letter “ A” following a date denotes the marriage license application date. The couple may have married but the official who married them did not return a marriage date. It is also possible a marriage license was applied for but the marriage never took place. Volume 4 begins in February 1870 and ends with 17 October 1878. Volume 5 begins with 18 October 1878 and continues to 3 December 1886. Volume 4 and Volume 5 are printed in two sections. Within each section the males are listed alphabetically followed by an alphabetical listing of the females.
