The 19th century could be called the golden age of tombstone inscriptions in that sometimes abundant personal information about the deceased was inscribed on the stones. This book includes tombstone inscriptions for all known cemeteries within the limits of Carbon County, Pennsylvania with dates of death before the year 1900. Information has been abstracted from about 8,350 grave markers. All German inscriptions have been translated to English. It includes lots of Irish and German names. An alphabetical listing with cross-reference index to names relative to the deceased make this a very useable book.
