The Cumberland County tax lists published in Volume XX of the Third Series of the Published Pennsylvania Archives contain the state and supply tax lists for Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. Specifically the county tax lists include the State Tax list for 1778, County Supply Rates for 1779 and 1780, and the Transcript of Taxables for 1781, 1782 and 1785. Taxpayers are listed by township. For each taxpayer the number of acres, horses, cattle, and Negroes owned at the time is listed.
The Cumberland County, Pennsylvania tax lists in Volumes XX of the Third Series of the Published Pennsylvania Archives also include the taxpayers for the area of Cumberland County that later became Juniata County, Perry County, and Franklin County, Pennsylvania. A section of Huntingdon County and Mifflin County was also a part of Cumberland County during this time period. Pennsylvania genealogy researchers will be able to search in seconds for any individual who paid tax in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania from the late 1770s to the mid-1780,s using this CD.
