Content includes abstracts of news items of births, deaths, marriages, birthdays and anniversaries of Jefferson County citizens. No birth records exist at the courthouse until December 1893, and no marriages were recorded at the courthouse from 1855 till October 1885, so this is the only listing of such events in that time period. No death records were recorded in the county between 1855 and 1893, so the obituaries listed in these old papers are the only listing of deaths in the county in those years. First published in 1987, this is the third printing of this useful book. Every name index.
